# The Assyrian Diaspora

From the homeland to a global community that remains, unmistakably, one.

Assyrians live in Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran, and in large communities in North America (including Chicago and California), Europe (including Södertälje, Sweden), and Australia. Displacement followed persecution, including the Sayfo genocide, and later wars in the homeland.

Diaspora life is organized around churches, language schools, cultural associations, and family networks. Assyrian Network's public directories exist so those scattered institutions and people can be found in one place.
